September 23 – St Paul SPOT picks

Jazz singer/composer Theo Bleckmann in Concert

Macalester Plymouth United church is the venue for this concert at 8:00. Here’s the skinny on Theo Bleckmann.  And a quote:

JAZZTIMES, USA/John Murph
Because of Bleckmann’s dynamic band-
width that includes modern jazz, new music,
European classical and cabaret, predicting his
artistic trajectory is as tricky as forecasting
the path of a hurricane.try stuff.
His voice is instantly recognizable regardless of
idiom or instrumentation. And it’s capable
of imbuing melodies, lines and lyrics with
flickering sensuality and emotion.

8:00 PM  – 10:00 PM

Friday lunch buffet  at the City View Grille – the theme this Friday is Oktoberfest.  Buffets, which starts at 11:30 cost $10 and reservations are recommended. If you can’t make it this Friday,  check their website for  a complete schedule of these student chef prepared meals.

Sunset Dining Cruise  on the Padelford Riverboat from 7:00 – 9:00.  Has anyone noticed how uncannily green the leaves still seem to be? Relative, that is, to the temperature?  Predicted to be in the 70’s tomorrow and through the weekend, which seems like opportunity calling for a river ride, whether it’s a sunset cruise , a fall colors (soon enough) tour, or a margarita tour.  Choose your delight.
